Two agencies, two PMOs, built from a standing start
01 / Context
Two early PMO-building roles back to back — a design and technology agency (2013–2017), where no PMO existed yet, and an enterprise mobile agency (2012–2013), serving clients across sports, energy, and nonprofit sectors.
02 / Problem
Both roles needed program-management practice built from nothing, for clients who needed real production delivery, not process theater.
Enterprise and consumer-brand names were on the line either way — an automotive OEM, a POS hardware manufacturer, and several other Fortune 500 and institutional clients on one side; a professional sports team, two energy companies, and a national nonprofit on the other.
03 / Approach
Build the process before there’s a backlog forcing it.
04 / What I did
Built the first agency’s PMO from inception to 90+ projects and 8 direct reports, growing 28% year-over-year, while leading an automotive OEM’s dashboard OS program and a POS hardware manufacturer’s terminal program from prototype to production.
At the second agency, delivered 23 enterprise mobile projects across sports, energy, and nonprofit clients, driving 100% year-over-year growth.
Role: PMO Lead / Program Manager · Design/tech agency, then enterprise mobile agency · 2012–201705 / Outcome
113+ projects delivered across two agencies, two PMO practices built from a standing start, and two flagship hardware programs shipped from prototype to production.
06 / What I would do differently
This entry is built from two resume lines, not lived memory of those years — the honest answer is I’d want real notes from that period before saying what I’d change. Ask me directly if you want more than what’s here.
